About Us

Matt Makes Objects opened its roller doors to customers in 2021.

We are a small but growing operation with a team of awesome people who love to design and make your objects.

We also have a couple of delivery partners who help us to deliver your products (quite literally).

Matt Gunn

FOUNDER
Founder, head of technical stuff and things, and chief nerd. Matt first got into CNCing in 2021 as a hobby and since then has acquired 80 square metres in workshop space and a second CNC machine.
Alongside Matt Makes Objects, Matt is a technology consultant specialising in cloud infrastructure and data products. Matt has always had an interest in woodworking and undertaken many (personal) home renovations - CNC-ing is the perfect blend of his tech and woodworking skills.
Matt Makes Objects is Matt's second entrepreneurial venture after selling his successful website and cloud hosting business in 2016.
Claire Blood

MAKER & OPS LEAD
Matt's partner Claire joined the team in 2024, alongside her work as a People & Capability professional & Coach.
She is learning the workshop business from sawdust up to support the development of operations and look after customers and their projects.
Claire is a hobby sewist and loves exploring the similarities and differences in the design and making process between clothes and furniture! Particularly all the amazing material choices - who knew you could get so many types of ply.
Eric Vaclavek

MAKER
Eric joined in 2024 and works at the workshop alongside a degree in Software Engineering.
Eric learned many of his woodworking skills on projects with his dad and is an experienced 3D printer which has given him awesome CAD skills - he draws up lots of our prototypes for custom work.
We love his incredible accuracy and attention to detail.
Gabby Appleby

MAKER
Gabby joined the team in 2024. Gabby is a workshop all-rounder. She is a photographer so her eye for design is coming in handy as she starts to develop new product designs.
Gabby recently purchased her first home and is currently undertaking a number of renovations so there isn’t much break from sawdust for her!
We are also looking forward to Gabby levelling up our product images this year!
Lucas

MAKER
Lucas joined in 2024 and works at the workshop alongisde his degree in architecture.
Lucas recently completed a huge shoe storage project the Marae at Vic Uni and is currently kitting out a 1996 Mazda Bongo Friendee van called Delilah as a campervan (Insta @vanlife_delilah).
Lucas is a great craftsperson and can often be found doing cabinetry installs for our customers.
